Hammer Time as Griffiths Smashes Record 
on day one of the 2017 NSW All Schools Championships.

Macarthur Throws Squad athlete Breanna Griffiths put on an outstanding display of Hammer Throwing at the NSW All Schools Championships with the youngster smashing the twenty year old meet record mark of 43.32m four times during the “Women’s 13 Years Hammer Throw event”. The 2016 NSW All Schools 12 yrs Hammer Throw Champion added the 2017 title to her name with an impressive new personal best throw of 45.82m.

Breanna will now prepare to take on the nations best U14 female Hammer Throwers at the Australian All Schools Championships to be held at SA Athletics Stadium, Adelaide in December 2017.

Fellow squad member and National U17 Shot Put Champion Venita Mailei claimed her first Gold Medal in Discus, winning the 16 yrs Girls Discus with a new personal best distance of 43.34m.  Venita claimed her second Gold Medal of the meet winning the 16 yrs Girls Shot Put with a best of 15.16m. Venita has also qualified for the 2017 Australian All Schools Championships, however, the 2016 U16 women’s ALS Shot Put Champion will be competing in the U18 women’s age group this time due to there being no U17 age group at ALS Championships!

16 year old Nicole Pili claimed the Silver Medal in the Girls 16 yrs Hammer Throw with 45.55m, and she placed fourth in the 16 yrs Discus with 37.63m, only 3cm behind the Bronze Medallist.

Ellie Dimoulas place fourth in the 16 yrs Hammer Throw with a best of 38.87m.
